Authors’ Alcove: The San Francisco Fall Show

The Watercolors of Skurman Architects, by Clive Aslet

COUPAR is honored to sponsor The San Francisco Fall Show Authors' Alcove this year, taking place from October 16 to 19, 2025, at Fort Mason. With the theme "Paradise Found," the Opening Night Gala, held on October 15, promises to be a visual feast. The array of books offered in the Alcove is equally delicious. We highlight just a few, starting with The Watercolors of Skurman Architects by Clive Aslet. The San Francisco-based firm, founded by Andrew Skurman in 1992, is known for its exquisite interpretations of classical architecture. Open the portfolio to reveal fifty watercolor prints and an accompanying hardback book.

Sheldon Harte, The Refined Home, by Mitchell Owens and Hadley Keller

California-based Sheldon Harte, who co-founded Harte Brownlee in 1984 with the late John Brownlee, was destined to be a designer. He grew up in a Cliff May house in the San Fernando Valley with a chic mother who took him antiquing. While his work is national, his interiors speak to California's diverse topography and creative spirit. Sheldon Harte: The Refined Home showcases his projects tailored to the client's aesthetic preferences, yet sharing a commonality of livable luxury. From coastal Orange County estates to mid-century Palm Springs homes and wine country getaways, Harte's designs embody the California lifestyle.

The World of Peter Dunham: Global Style from Paris to Hollywood,  By Peter Dunham, Edited by Stephen Drucker

The World of Peter Dunham: Global Style from Paris to Hollywood aptly captures the life of the interior designer. Dunham, raised in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, runs his interior design studio and his showroom Hollywood at Home in West Hollywood. There is a lot in between for the British-educated designer whose family summered in Cadaqués, Spain. The exotic mix developed Dunham's aesthetics, which The Los Angeles Times described as "Merchant Ivory Moderne." He boldly combines color, pattern, texture, and styles in projects that range from Los Angeles, Montecito, the Bay Area, Montana, Dallas, New York City, Sag Harbor, and Fire Island.

David Kleinberg Interiors, David Kleinberg with Mayer Rus

Moving on to New York City, David Kleinberg: Interiors, written with Rus Meryers, showcases Kleinberg's timeless interiors that balance classical and contemporary elements. Before opening his firm in 1997, the designer worked at the esteemed firm Parish Hadley for sixteen years. While Sister Parish loved color and pattern, chintz and needlepoint, Albert Hadley had a disciplined modernist eye, believing "never less, never more," Kleinberg learned from both. Exemplifying the designer's evolved style is the renovation of Thom Browne and Andrew Bolton's Manhattan townhouse. In the historic home, Kleinberg seamlessly blended American and English antiques with mid-century and contemporary pieces.
