Paradise Found: Chloe Gallery

The San Francisco Fall Show's theme, "Paradise Found," is spreading throughout the art community. Chloe Gallery presents a series of visual enchantments inspired by the event. Among the delights are San Francisco painter Amy Nelder's Fauvist landscapes and oversized florals, California realist Carrie Graber's luministic mid-century poolscapes, and Florida multi-disciplinary artist Amy Shekhter's glowing three-dimensional portraits of women. For the artist and Chloe Gallery co-founder, Amy Nelder, "The light sensuality of nature is my current paradise, as are experiments in the emotional shifts when changing green trees to blue, or a blue violet sky to pink."

Inspired by growing up in Southern California, Graber juxtaposes 20th-century Pop iconography with a 19th-century fascination for light. Her sun-drenched works capture the region's golden-white light, drawing on the Luminist and Hudson River art traditions. She populates her pieces with seductive, glamorous scenes of modern and contemporary Southern California.
Amy Shekhter, Not in the Mood, multi-media on canvas
Shekhter has experienced the extremes of light and temperature, growing up in Alaska and now living in Florida. Dark, sunless winters inspired her to fill indoor spaces with vibrant art and innovative designs, utilizing unconventional materials. Now, in a warmer, brighter climate, she creates three-dimensional portraits of women illuminated by jewelled gardens of delight.
