For most designers, their path to the profession is straightforward, from education to training to opening their own firm. Andrea Halkovich's journey to interior design has been a circuitous one. A native of Sonoma, she grew up in a creative household, with a mother who encouraged her early immersion in the arts. Ballet, voice, theatre, and opera lessons followed, which opened the door to lead roles in regional productions of Annie, Oliver, Godspell, Little Shop of Horrors, Guys & Dolls, West Side Story, Les Misérables, and Grease.

Based in San Francisco, Andrea modeled for brands such as Gap, Levi's, Guess, and Esprit, and walked the runway for Macy's PASSPORT, all while honing her acting skills at the ACT. As her modeling and singing career expanded, she relocated to Los Angeles, where she studied with Russian opera singer Marina Koshetz. Ultimately, Andrea decided that life in the limelight wasn't the right fit. She returned to Sonoma to earn a business degree and pursue a career in the tech industry. She applied the divestiture she received from her company and invested it in Sonoma real estate, renovating properties.

Wanting to explore her creativity while raising her family, she started a line of boutique designer children's clothing. While Andrea enjoyed crafting designs from beautiful textiles and vintage patterns, her renovation projects became her passion and led her to pursue a degree in Interior Design. In the Spring of 2020, she simultaneously launched Sonoma Interiors and took on two large projects, where her background in the arts guided her intuitive approach to color, proportion, and flow. Her portfolio now spans Wine Country estates, refined family homes, and sophisticated commercial spaces.

Andrea's path to design was not straightforward, but unique, earning her four ASID Gold and one Platinum Design Excellence Awards in two years.
